American Los Angeles-based film music composer and film music executive at Universal studios. Owner of Harry Garfield Music.
He began his career as keyboardist and songwriter in the 60s, performing with various bands and playing back up for acts such as Ike & Tina Turner, the Music Machine, the 1910 Fruit Gum Company and Gary Lewis and the Playboys. His songs have been recorded by Michael McDonald, Steppenwolf and Andy Williams, among others
In 1981 he started at Universal Television as a music coordinator and arranger. He moved to Universal Pictures in 1985 as director of music and was promoted to vice president of music/creative affairs in 1991. He became senior vice president of music in 1994.
