Engineer, mastering engineer and recording engineer born in Columbus (OH, USA). At a age of 13 he became a licensed amateur radio operator, and met John Hull. One year later he started to work with John as an apprentice doing remote recording and lacquer disc cutting. That led to full time work at John's new Columbus, Ohio studio in 1966. He studied Electrical Engineering at Ohio Northern University (Ohio, OH, USA) and Engineering Physics at Ohio State University. In 1971 he became chief engineer at Motion Picture Sound in Cleveland, Ohio. He is co-founder and designer of Hedden West Studios and Diskwerks (Schaumburg, IL, USA). He designed and built 2 remote recording trucks including his own GHL remote audio truck. Currently Gary lives in Williamson County (Tennessee, USA). He operates a CD mastering studio and works as a studio design and acoustics consultant. He is a lifetime member of the Audio Engineering Society, having engineered more than 2000 albums and designed or consulted on several hundred studios.
