American jazz trumpeter, singer and bandleader, nicknamed "Satchmo" or "Pops".

Died 6 July 1971 in New York City, New York, USA.
Along with Fletcher Henderson he was the instigator of the second wave of jazz, Swing.
Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990 (Early Influence).
