Wendy Melvoin & Lisa Coleman were childhood friends, both from musical families. They were members of Prince's band The Revolution, and appeared in the movie "Purple Rain". They left the band for a career as a duo in 1987.
Wendy's twin sister Susannah was a part of the duo's band. Their brother Jonathan Melvoin was a member of Smashing Pumpkins.
More recently, the pair have been writing music for television, having scored the music for the NBC series "Heroes", and Showtime’s "Nurse Jackie".
