She died of AIDS in 2000 in 1980. She did not contract HIV from a blood tranfusion but from her husband, who was HIV+. Her husband stole her money and isolated her from her family and her friends. When she was ill he prevented her from seeking treatment. Her husband is now dead.
He died of AIDS. He also emptied her bank accounts and she died with little money in the bank. The Israeli government is conducting an investigation into conspiracy to defraud and murder. See the documentary "Secrets-A God Given Voice".

    • In 1990 Ofra Haza refused an offer by Michael Jackson to collaborate on a global tour.

    • British DJs Coldcut contributed to the succes of "Im Nina'lu" by using it in their remix of Eric B and Rakim's "Paid in Full".

    • Ofra Haza's voice had probably the most upper harmonic overtones of any singer in history, sometimes reaching as many as 32, in some songs such as "Love Song" from the album "Shaday" (1988).
