Marty Balin (born Martyn Jerel Buchwald, (, 1943), in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American musician. He is best known as the founder and one of the lead singers (along with Grace Slick) of Jefferson Airplane, the pioneering psychedelic rock band from San Francisco. Born and raised in Ohio, Marty was mildly autistic as a child, and he struggled with this while growing up. Mild autism would affect him into his adulthood as well.
