Lovin' Spoonful album cover
'''The Lovin' Spoonful''' was an American pop-rock band of the 1960s, named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. The band's name was inspired by a song of Mississippi John Hurt's about Maxwell House Coffee, called the "Coffee Blues". The band had its roots in a John Sebastian group called the Mugwumps, which split to form the Lovin' Spoonful and & the Mamas and Papas. Sebastian was joined by Zal Yanovsky in the Spoonful.
