Insomnium

Insomnium is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Joensuu. They are influenced by doom metal, playing songs about sorrow, death, loss, and mourning. They also incorporate elements of nordic / norse folk music and symphonic music into their sound.

Since their inception, Insomnium have steadily evolved their style of music. Their melodies are highly melancholic, and their overall sound is much darker. The band's lyrics tend to be influenced (and occasionally taken) from classic poets like H?lderlin, Edgar Allan Poe, Finnish classic Eino Leino and other literature.

Across the Dark

The new album from Insomnium was originally scheduled to be released on the 2nd of September, 2009 in Finland, the 6th in Europe and the 7th in the United States. However, this was postponed and the new release dates are the 9th of September in Finland, the 15th in the United States and the 26th of September in Europe.
