Fiction Factory were a Scottish band from Perth, formed in the mid 1980s.
Before they started their project Fiction Factory, Kevin Patterson (vocals), Eddie Jordan (keyboards), Grant Taylor (trumpet) and Chic Medley (guitar) played in The Rude Boys (later shortened to The RB's), a skinhead ska band. After they left that band, they wanted to keep writing songs but were fed up with live performances. The first song Patterson and Jordan wrote for it was "(Feels Like) Heaven".
CBS Records asked the band to create a concert-playing band, so they enlisted Graham McGregor (bass) and Mike Ogletree (drums and percussion) - a former drummer of the band Simple Minds. "(Feels Like) Heaven" became a UK Top 10 hit in 1984 (also reaching the Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland), was used in a 2008 television advertisement for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
After their second album, Fiction Factory disbanded. Patterson eventually left the music industry and currently works in the IT department at the University of Dundee. He has a wife and two children. Patterson and Jordan reunited to perform "(Feels Like) Heaven" with a backing band
at Jordan's wedding in August 2007. Chic Medley went on to work with Martin Swan's
Scottish-world music project Mouth Music. Gavin Turbin also played with the band for a brief period of time as the drummer, he is currently working for HBOS
